The City of Oxford is just under 10 miles from here. Catch the Thames Travel no. 11 bus at the end of the track or drive to Red Bridge Park and Ride on the Abingdon Road, Oxford. Otherwise, there is good underground parking at the Westgate Shopping Centre in Oxford.

Blenheim Palace, the birth place of Sir Winston Churchill, is around 40 minutes by car. Take a picnic and soak up the atmosphere of the landscaped grounds designed by Capability Brown.

Henley-on-Thames, renowned for its regatta, is a 45 minutes drive through stunning countryside. Stroll along the banks of the Thames or take a boat trip and watch the world go by.

Not far from Henley is Marlow, another pretty, Thames-side town with many interesting shops and restaurants including Tom Kerridge's Hand and Flowers.

Cliveden, once home to the Astor family and brimming with history, is minutes from Marlow. Enjoy the beautiful gardens with magnificent views down to the Thames. Sunday lunch at Cliveden is very good but book well in advance.

Bourton-on-the-Water, a delightful village, is often referred to as the 'Little Venice' of the Cotswolds because of the number of bridges that span the River Windrush. Visit the charming town of Burford en route.

Kelmscott Manor, summer home of Willliam Morris, is still tranquil and inspiring now as it was in times past. A few miles further away is Buscot Park, a lively and vibrant country house in terms of colour scheme and decor. Worth a visit.

The Crazy Bear Restaurant in Stadhampton. Minutes away by car. Alternatively, cycle or walk along the footpath to the pub for lunch or supper at this uniquely-decorated hostelry. Booking advisable. Also visit The Wild Pig to stock up on interesting food items.

The Lamb in Little Milton is a traditional and cosy pub just 5 minutes by car. It's also possible to walk on the footpath adjacent to us and head across the fields to Little Milton. We recommend booking a table in advance.

Le Secret Garden at The Plough in Great Haseley is a little corner of Southern Europe in a pretty English pub. Either drive or cycle to Great Haseley via Rofford and Little Haseley. The car journey is roughly 10 minutes. Table reservation recommended.

The Nelson, 10 minutes away, in Brightwell Baldwin serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. An old but beautiful, atmospheric pub tastefully decorated inside. Booking advisable.

Sandy Lane Farm Shop at Milton Common is a family farm run by young and enthusiastic farmers. Their produce is organic and a visit to their farm shop is definitely worth the 15 minutes drive.

Britwell Salome Farm Shop at Britwell Salome sell their own beef, lamb and pork as well as other items from local food producers. Another must-visit, family-run farm shop around 15 minutes from here.

Brightwell Vineyard is on the outskirts of Shillingford, some 15 minutes from us, and is worth a visit (book tours online). Stock up on their very good sparkling white wine.

We're lucky enough to have a small M&S Food Hall in Stadhampton so if you don't feel like preparing food, drop into the shop and pick up a ready-meal.

There's plenty of cycling, some of it challenging, to be had in this area. Routes to look at are The Phoenix Trail from Thame to Princes Risborough as well as rides into the Chilterns which can be started from here.
​
Walking is on our doorstep; you can head north across the fields to Little Milton and the Haseleys or south to Stadhampton and Chislehampton. All walks are easy and scenic. There is a good circular walk from us via Little Milton and back to Stadhampton.

The Oxfordshire Championship Golf Course is just 10 minutes away by car for those who would like a day out on the greens.
